Review & Description

In 1941, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt launched the “Tuskegee Experiment,” a controversial program in the Army Air Corps that trained African Americans to fly combat aircraft. They were known as the “Tuskegee Airmen,” and they served our country as pilots, navigators, bombardiers, maintenance and support staff, instructors, and all personnel who kept planes in the air. This was a profoundly important moment in U.S. history, and Stuhrling Original is proud to celebrate their courage and contribution to our great country. If you liked the Tuskegee and its bigger counterpart, the Tuskegee Flier, then you are going to love the midpoint take in this series of watches…introducing the Tuskegee Warhawk. The Flier, impressive by its own right, was 3mm larger than the original Tuskegee, setting a record at 44mm in diameter, and the Tuskegee Bomber measures in at a whopping 52mm. The Warhawk, however, stands between them with its impressive 48mm case design. This timepiece retains that simple at-a-glance look with its classic three hand movement with date window; the Arabic numerals and markers have been made luminous for ease of reading in the dark, and like the Flier, the Tuskegee War hawk comes in black PVD and stainless steel cases depending on the execution. The Tuskegee Warhawk is powered by a 22-jewel mechanical automatic movement. Through the exhibition case back, you can see that this movement is decorated with Cotes de Geneve, Perlage, and a Damier finish on the rotor that keeps the watch wound with the movement of your arm. The Warhawk comes mounted on a bomber leather jacket style strap, 26mm in width, with contrast stitching that matches the execution. Read more
